Aquarium
Hood
- The end caps were machined and hand-shaped from two-inch-thick, solid oak.
- Five 3" machine screws were used to attach each end cap to the horizontal beams (hidden by plugs),
to fortify those joints against the extra punishment anticipated from a saltwater aquarium.
- The door hinges from an upper front beam which is slightly slanted,
to provide a surface against which to lean when open --
eliminates the hardware to hold the door open,
one less piece of hardware to corrode from the salty air.
- Click here for a pictorial journal of its construction
(and a blatant plug for Design Intuition, some cad software I wrote).

- Carcass contains four 2x4 reinforcers (two on top and two on bottom) to distribute acquarium weight.
