Mortise and tenon
The mortise-and-tenon joint allows us to construct a very lightweight door or table top,
strong enough to hold a large piece of thick, tempered glass.
Not at all fragile, requiring no metal fasteners, it looks clean and finished from all six sides.

Mortise and tenon with nested stop-rabbets
The double rabbet provides room for the tempered glass, in the innermost rabbet, and for a hold-down strip, in the outermost rabbet.
A stop rabbet joint is one which doesn't extend the full length of the piece.
Both rabbets in the side pieces (pictured at right) are stopped because they turn a corner within those pieces.

Pegged through-mortise and tenon
This joint is very strong, rigid and reliable;
yet it is not glued or fastened, and can be disassembled with remarkable ease.
The piece pictured at left was designed to have a japanese flavor.
The client was very happy with both the design and the result.

Stop dado
A stop dado is one which doesn't extend the full length of the piece.
We use a stop dado in drawer fronts so that the resulting drawers are both light and strong.
